In 2016, the United Kingdom passed its Investigatory Powers Act, nicknamed the "Snoopers' Charter," which empowered the UK government to grant to British intelligence agencies, police, and other government agencies, the use of extensive digital surveillance powers to collect bulk amounts of internet and communications data, similar to what our NSA does as authorized under the Patriot Act and other subsequent laws. The law survived numerous legal challenges in the UK largely unscathed and has been in effect going back to late 2016.
Earlier this year, amendments were enacted that gave the law even more expansive and supercharged powers, including the ability and funding to use Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to analyze even larger and more intrusive data sets. The law allows the British intelligence agencies to employ hacking and other forms of equipment interference to surveil, gather, and interpret bulk data.
Accordingly, the UK government tightened the screws and demanded even more power, with the Starmer government demanding that Apple create and give to the UK intelligence agencies a backdoor into iCloud, which would open up to the British Intel agencies all communications through iCloud not only in the UK but worldwide. There are an estimated 1.5 billion Apple users worldwide, and the UK government was now attempting to access all the usage, communications, and data of those 1.5 billion users.
But that's not all. The Starmer government sent the same demands to Google, Microsoft, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal. These demands were backed by the threat of fines of $10 million pounds per day and 2-year prison sentences for the executives of the companies with possible demands for extradition, further sanctions, punishments, and seizures under the British Serious Crime Act of 2015, which features many of the provisions found in our RICO laws.
The American tech companies had seen this play out before, in 2004 when the NSA created the Dual Elliptic Curve Deterministic Random Bit Generator, which created a cryptographic back door into software to accumulate data and spy on communications and information worldwide by breaking encryption and allowing mass data gathering, which is a fancy term for hacking, and implemented it through its Bullrun program. However, by 2013, the NSA hackers had been hacked, and now the back door had a back door, which was confirmed by the NSA memos leaked by Edward Snowden, that suggested the NSA itself was complicit in creating the vulnerability. The entire system that the NSA spent more than $250m/year to develop and implement was now laid bare and a new back door created, perhaps from within. To this day it has not been confirmed and reported exactly who did it.
The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, spoke out against the British demands, stating that " We refuse to build a backdoor that would weaken security for every one of our users worldwide." The UK didn't back down and pressure increased on the major Tech execs, who were more or less cornered, that is until Vice President JD Vance stepped in.
Vance, because of his experience and knowledge working with tech companies in his previous career in private equity, combined with his knowledge of the Snowden situation, understood that eventually every US citizen's and business's data would eventually be exposed worldwide because he understood that even the hackers get hacked. Vance personally led a group of high-level US officials, including DNI Director Gabbard, reporting to President Trump, and took control of negotiations with the UK government on behalf of the American tech companies. Vance leveraged technical arguments with the assistance of the tech companies and his own diplomatic skills of negotiation against the British.
Two weeks ago, the UK government announced that it was withdrawing its demands completely. JD Vance had succeeded where everybody else had failed, in stopping a government from forcing tech companies to adopt the inevitable unsecure back door. Every one of you listening to this, your data and privacy was saved by JD Vance, and I bet you didn't know about it until now. Not only that, but Vance saved the tech companies as well. The tech companies brought the technical skill, but Vance brought the diplomatic skill and political power to the table and made it happen. Truly remarkable.
Naturally, the media has ignored this story, just as they have ignored the tsunami of censorship and invasion of privacy that we have reported in this space for years- from the AP Stylebook to the Twitter Files to the Global Disinformation Network to Agenda 2030 to the Biden Administration's efforts to expand our own surveillance state's power and reach to FISAgate. For the first time, a presidential administration stood up for American citizens and American business against the global censorship cabal and prevailed.
Make America Safe Again isn't just a pithy political slogan, it is a real mission of the Trump administration, not only in the physical world but in the digital world as well and it is an actionable strategy. Understand this, the globalists, censors, and tyrants both foreign and domestic won't stop, they will never stop. But with the Trump administration's mission of putting America First, and with leaders who possess genuinely elite skills like JD Vance, we now have the ability and capability of fighting back and securing our future.
And if you wondered why the tech companies who donated and supported democrats greater than 95% of the time are now Trump fans, now you know. They understand that we now have a unique leadership team, perhaps a once in a lifetime leadership team, who have the correct moral compass, the vision, and most of all the capability of leading us into the digital age in a way that Makes America Great Again and then Keeps America Great. A bold future demands bold leadership, one that will protect, expand, collaborate with and protect our industries, and most of all create an attitude of optimism and achievement that will guide us as we explore the amazing opportunities to grow, innovate, broaden our horizons, to make all of our lives healthier, better, safer, and richer... and with Donald Trump and JD Vance, it is finally ours.
