Govern Me Harder, Daddy!

If you are on social media, you have no doubt seen the "Govern Me Harder, Daddy" meme. I think it started during COVID with the clot shot, and gained steam during the Biden years, but it is everywhere. And you know what? It is true, and it is intrinsic with leftist philosophy both here and worldwide. It's in their DNA.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when we faced an energy shortage and gas lines in the 1970's, and didn't enact a comprehensive national energy policy to greatly expand exploration, build refineries, modernize and insulate the grid, and become completely energy independent.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when the 3-Mile Island accident happened in 1979 and the government decided it didn't want to build modern, efficient nuclear power plants in the US for at least 20 years.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when Prudhoe Bay, which is one of the 10 largest oil fields in the world, was restricted from 2 million barrels of oil a day down to about 188,000 now.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when the ANWR drilling ban was established in 1980.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when Obama and Biden enacted regulations that closed hundreds of coal fired power plants.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when the Keystone Pipeline was shut down.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when the democrats under Biden passed $1.7 trillion of new energy related spending of which NONE of it was for oil exploration, production, and refining. In fact, $16 billion of that spending was to plug oil wells and shut them down.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when Gavin Newsom shut down the Martinez refinery in 2020, the Rodeo refinery in 2024, the Phillips 66 refinery in 2025, and the Valero refinery this year. Together, that's 564 million barrels a day of refining capacity gone with the stroke of a diabolical pen.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when the PES Philadelphia refinery was not rebuilt after a 2019 fire. It refined 335,000 barrels a day.
Govern me harder, Daddy, when the Eagle Point, Perth Amboy, and Port Reading refineries, all in New Jersey, were shut down during the Obama presidency. Together, that's another 300,000 barrels per day of capacity lost.
Govern me harder, Daddy, said the entire left worldwide, and made their avatars on social media Ukrainian flags while our government, the EU, and NATO broke all its promises to Russia- particularly the Budapest Memorandum- and facilitated a color revolution in Ukraine, built bioweapons labs within 20 miles of the Russian border, then picked a fight with the bear that has cost the US taxpayer about $195 billion.
And did I mention that the cokehead Zelenskyy blew up Russia's two largest diesel refineries in the past week, and blew up another gas refinery last night, that has plunged Europe into a fuel crisis and driven up the cost of diesel fuel to historic highs worldwide? Govern me harder, Vladamir.
Govern me harder, Daddy, said the European Union while it is being bled dry because they chose to trade energy independence for a green fantasy, windmills, solar panels made in China, foreign pipelines, and being made energy slaves to the whims of their enemies.
Now, the Saudis have informed the EU that because of the situation with the Houthis- the one that the EU couldn't be bothered with going back to February because they were in bed financially with Iran- the Saudis are cutting off the EU from its allocated crude shipments of 577,000 barrels per day for the month of October. That's another 17,877,000 barrels of oil that the EU is not getting next month, right as temperatures start to turn colder across the continent and Russian refining capacity is destroyed.
Govern me harder, Daddy, all the fools in the EU who thought Russia was your enemy and Iran was your friend while you became energy slaves to them both.
Now all the govern me harder, Daddy people are trying to convince you that the lack of foresight, the lack of planning, the lack of investment, the lack of energy security, and the wasted dollars on less efficient and more expensive green energy, the idiotic actions of their hero Zelenskyy, and resultant higher energy prices are all Donald Trump's fault; and if we will just give them back power to govern us harder, everything will be alright.
The govern me harder crowd really think, no, they are really counting on we the people being stupid enough, to say govern me harder, because one of our cheapest vital commodities, gasoline, is now over $4 a gallon.
Think of all the things in your life that you consume daily, that you may consider vital or desirable, that are more than $4 a gallon. Milk is about the same cost per gallon as gas. A soda like Coke or Pepsi is about $6 a gallon. A decent craft beer costs about $21 a gallon. Your morning latte from Starbucks or Dunkin costs about $45 a gallon. The average cost of shampoo is about $75 a gallon. Your favorite cologne costs about $4000 a gallon. I could go on and on but you get the picture. Even at $4-5 a gallon gas is cheap compared to the marginal historic cost of transportation and ridiculously cheap compared to what Europe and China are paying.
Nobody is governed harder than the Chinese, who because of the disruption in oil flowing out of Iran and Trump's Venezuela gambit, are paying about $140 a barrel for crude oil right now. That's a win for us. You know what else is a win? Living in a red state, because the average price of a gallon of gas is about 50 cents a gallon cheaper on average than a blue state.
The govern me harder people want to unseat the GOP because gas is $4 a gallon. Why? Because Trump is stopping Iran from getting a nuke and destabilizing the world, but they wanted to be governed harder by democrats when gas was $5 a gallon because the democrats under Biden were printing money. It is NOT the same. By the way, Bloomberg's economists' analysis of the oil futures points to a descending price curve with $70 a barrel by next year and $50 a barrel by 2030.
In 46 days, you've got a choice to make. If you vote democrat or sit home and pout, maybe you'll wind up like the EU, broke and in crisis. In other words, you'll be asking for globalism and be the living embodiment of a meme. You'll be governed harder.
Or you can vote republican, for Trump's forward-thinking energy, security, foreign and economic policies, American excellence and innovation. You'll be governed smarter.
The French philosopher Joseph de Maistre wrote, "Every nation gets the government it deserves."
The author George Higgins put it another way in his book "The Friends of Eddie Coyle" when he wrote, "This life's hard, but it's harder if you're stupid." He could have just as easily said "Govern me harder, Daddy."
