This morning, 112 republicans and 2 democrats voted in favor of due process, and for we the people to be the arbiters of who our representatives are. They are heroes.
105 republicans joined 206 democrats in gifting New Jersey's 3rd congressional district back to the democrats by expelling George Santos from congress, and with it, due process and the determination by We the People of who should represent us.Â
As the old saying goes, "and you wonder why we can't have nice things." I'm not implying in any way that George Santos is nice. I don't know whether he is or not, nor do I care, but I do know this.Â
Santos is only the 6th member to ever be expelled, and the first since Jim Trafficant of Ohio 21 years ago. Trafficant was convicted of 10 felonies including bribery, racketeering, and tax evasion, as well as campaign finance violations. The key word here is convicted- not indicted, not charged- convicted. George Santos has yet to be convicted of anything.
The democrat party of 2023 would have never voted to expel one of their own who had not been convicted of any crime and would have ostracized any member who had the gall to suggest such. Don't believe me? Say hello to Jamaal Bowman and Senator Bob Melendez. Now the GOP majority in the house is down to 3 seats. Rep. Bill Johnson of Ohio is retiring next month, then it will be down to a 2-seat majority. Better hope nobody gets sick, dies off, or like George Santos- indicted, or the GOP will have committed political hari kari, giftwrapping the majority and the gavel to the democrats without the benefit of an election. Â
RINO Rep Michael Guest of Mississippi, chairman of the house ethics committee, who ran the sham one-sided investigation against Santos, stated that Santos was given quote "ample due process" in its hearing. Never mind that Santos is going to trial on 23 federal charges next September and that testifying or offering any defense in a congressional committee would be idiotic and legal malpractice. Guest knows this... You know who else does? The supposedly bi-partisan January 6th committee, who destroyed Brady evidence with impunity. But they're different, with a capital D.
Several GOP representatives, including Matt Gaetz and Clay Higgins, took to the floor not to defend Santos but to impugn the railroading- errrrr- process. Gaetz stood to quote "defend the very precedent that my colleagues are willing to shatter." Higgins stated that quote, "the committee's investigation appears weaponized to me." Sound familiar? It should. It is exactly the same thing that the uniparty is doing to President Trump and the January 6 defendants through lawfare- note I didn't say democrats as we can see from the vote here and comments elsewhere that a large percentage of the GOP is in lockstep with the democrats in taking away your vote and voice. Â
When you combine the vote this morning with the information we learned yesterday in Michael Schellenberger's congressional testimony on censorship, it is crystal clear that the larger issue here is that there is a significant number- a majority- of our political elites irrespective of party who do not want We the People to voice an opinion, to be able to freely debate our opinions, and most of all, they want to take away our ability to decide who runs our government.
That's right, the same idiots who ran up a $33 trillion deficit, destroyed small town and rural America through idiotic trade policies, foisted an invasion of millions of unvetted military aged men into our communities, allowed drugs imported by foreign cartels to destroy a generation of our youth, sat on their hands while our cities burned in 2020 and became war zones, and consistently enrich and empower themselves at our expense without our permission- are now telling us what information we are allowed to hear, how and with whom we can discuss it, and it will be them, not us, who gets to decide who governs us. The arrogance.
And before you laugh at the notion that We the People are losing our "say so," ask yourself if the 2020 Presidential Election-especially in the swing states- or the 2022 Arizona Gubernatorial elections were truly free and honest? What has the Republican Party done to ensure free and fair elections? Defend President Trump? Help Kari Lake? Stand up to the persecution of the January 6 defendants? Think they care?
Is it fair to ask if our republic is collapsing from within, is it fair to ask if there is no longer a true two party adversarial system, is it fair to ask if we have become an oligarchy, is it fair to ask if we are speeding toward a consolidation into globalist form of socialism, and is it fair to ask if the American dream of self-rule and upward mobility that our ancestors fought to create, expand, preserve, and bequeath-Â is dying?
Tough questions? The answers better be tougher.
"The party told you to reject the evidence before your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command." It is not just a line from George Orwell's "1984," it is now the reality we live in.
