Playin' 'Possum

Growing up in rural South Georgia one of the things I dreaded most was cold mornings at 5:30am when my dad would burst into my room, turn the lights on, rip the covers off, and start singing to me his liquor drinking honky tonk songs that I hated in the loudest, most obnoxious voice possible; which meant it was time to get my butt up and go to work at the hog farm. I would lay there and play possum, which is a South Georgia description of faking sleep or injury to avoid something dreadful- and castrating hogs, among other nasty chores, in 45 degree weather in muddy slop was indeed something dreadful.   

My old man didn't like my playing possum at all, and would get even louder and more obnoxious, before losing patience, jacking me up, and dragging me to the cold shower fully clothed, which was a nasty  combination of training, character building, and punishment, but I learned my lesson about playing possum.

You know who else has been playing possum? The media. The same media that fed you lie after lie about Donald Trump since 2015- Russian Collusion, the Steele Dossier Pee Tape, calling Neo-Nazis fine people, drinking bleach to fight COVID, calling dead veterans suckers and losers, grabbing the steering wheel of the beast, his supposed tax troubles, calling an unarmed protest that turned into a small riot an insurrection, and on and on and on- yep, all those same people that had the audacity to foist all that made up fraud on We the People have been caught playing possum when it comes to Joe Biden for the past 5 years starting with Trump's phone call to Zylensky that he got impeached for.

The signs of cognitive decline were there from 2019. The evidence of corruption was there from at least 5 years earlier. They didn't investigate it. They didn't report it. They didn't ask the hard questions. They didn't hold first candidate Biden then President Biden, his administration, or the democrat party accountable. They didn't hold each other accountable. It was a conspiracy at the highest levels of both government and the press. They weren't even a fraction as curious about Biden's corruption and decline as even the slightest Trump related issue, whether real or imagined. They were and are propaganda partners of the administration and democrat party, attacking where they need to attack and covering up what they need to cover up, all for the sake of the democrat party. They were either wildly corrupt or wildly inept, take your pick, and neither is good.

Since they have made it a point to tell us through the years how they are the intellectual elite, and that they are our information guardians, and educated superiors, you can't call it ineptitude. Nope. It is plainly corruption, and now the cat is out of the bag and they've been caught. They're playing possum, pretending they didn't know and that now they, the guardians of democracy, are going to hold Biden and the democrats accountable.  Give me a break. It should aggravate and enrage you.

The media's coverup of Biden's cognitive decline and his corruption is arguably the biggest scandal in Washington in our lifetimes. In my opinion it is at least one of the three largest, along with the congressional slush fund for rape and sexual harassment, and Epstein's client list. By the way the media was complicit in covering up and burying those scandals, too. In addition to the lies and coverups, they want to censor you and that's a humongous scandal too, but that's another story for another day. 

President Trump famously said that the media is the enemy of the people and called the White House Press Corps criminals for covering up the Hunter Biden laptop story in October 2020. He was right on both accounts. 

George Orwell said it best, "The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed–if all records told the same tale–then the lie passed into history and became truth."

It is our duty for the sake of the nation to hold them accountable with our remote controls, radio knobs, mouse clicks, subscriptions, posts, and word of mouth. They think they control us when in fact we control them, with our intellectual curiosity, virtue of seeking the truth, our skepticism, our educated consumption and discourse, and most of all, our votes. As they say in 'rasslin,' the heel turn is under way. Don't be fooled. They got caught playing possum, and just like a sleepy young man in 1970's South Georgia, they need to be woke up, jacked up, straightened up, and taught a cold, hard lesson.
